The Colours Wave Dildo

Tiffany, 33 – bisexual woman, currently single and living alone – just her, her plants & trusty Satisfyer Pro 2! Experienced toy user who’s keen to give (almost) anything a go!

“I was seeing aaaaall the colours of the rainbow!”

Similar to the teardrops glass massager, the Colours Wave dildo wasn’t a showstopper for me on it’s own (it doesn’t vibrate and it’s not focused on clit stimulation, which is essentially what I look for in a toy haha), but when paired with something that does, the combo makes for an intense orgasm, and I was seeing aaaaall the colours of the rainbow!

I quite liked the look and feel of this one, it had a good amount of flexibility while also being quite firm, and I really enjoyed the shape for hitting the right spots. Plus it was SO easy to clean!

It comes with a suction cup so you can enjoy it in a bunch of different positions, although I have to admit I didn’t really take full advantage of this one – but it’s good to have options right? You can always stick it to your fridge and use it as a handle like my friend does if you feel like spicing up your decor a little? haha. It’s also compatible with a harness, which opens up the possibilities and we love a multi-purpose queen.

So for me, it wasn’t cut out to be the star of the show, but makes for a good time with friends (of the toy or human variety)!

Rachel, 34, a new mum navigating life as a parent with her husband – not the most experienced toy user but is keen to battle past her apprehension to try new things and embrace her sexuality

“When I saw it in the packaging, I have to admit, I was kind of terrified.”

When I saw the Colours Wave Dildo in the packaging, I have to admit, I was kind of terrified. It looked huge. HUGE. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a decent girth and width, and my husband is rather well equipped when it comes to that –  but far out – this toy looked massive!

However, once I opened the packaging, I realised that the clear plastic window of the box made the toy appear much bigger, and the dildo wasn’t actually THAT big. I did find – maybe because I was nervous about it – that I needed to be incredibly relaxed, and super lubed to use this one. Once it’s in, it’s pretty good, but I really had to make sure I relaxed enough for it to be pleasurable.

If you want to explore a bit more with it, you might need a few logistics in your favour – I wanted to try it ‘stuck’ on the wall in the shower, but our set-up doesn’t allow for that – it will be an interesting one to take away when my husband and I get a romantic escape one day, and a larger bathroom! I also definitely found this better as a partner toy, because of the above mentioned reasons, but I’m going to keep trying to see if it becomes more of a solo favourite.

Kaos, 28 & non-binary, lives with their long-term partner and cat and is on a sexual journey to pleasure

“I was excited to learn that it was strap-on harness compatible, however it’s a bit too large to use on my partner – at least for now ;)”

Not too bad but not for me. The Colours Wave was intriguing to look at and I was unsure what to expect. Unfortunately, the fit and size were a bit too big mostly the tip as it is a bit on the large side. The texture is weirdly grippy so would get caught on my lips and was a bit difficult to insert. Also, hair and dust stick to it very easily so keep that in mind when it comes to storage in between use.

Due to how bendy it is, it made insertion very awkward. I had difficulty feeling the toy once inside and only found it was only enjoyable when doing very fast in and out motions. It made things very wet despite the lack of feeling but afterwards, I felt quite achy and had an uncomfortable need to pee after.

I was excited to learn that it was strap-on harness compatible however it’s a bit too large to use on my partner, at least for now ;), although my partner and I did have fun flopping it around and smacking it on each other for funsies. This is definitely the type of toy for someone who prefers something a bit larger than what I’m used to and could be a great option if you want a new piece for your strap-on kit.

Catherine, 30, a toy virgin and newly-single woman who’s looking to seize every opportunity coming her way (whether it’s boy or toy!) but is keen to take matters into her own hands (literally)

“It was a Goldilocks situation, where I never found the right spot – too high, too low, you get the idea.”

The Colours Wave was not for me.

It is large and a very vivid shade of blue.  Out of the growing collection of toys under my bed, this is the one I panic most about the family dog emerging with in her mouth.

Even in your hand, it seems large! Before braving a review, I had a panicked call to my sister whose colleagues were probably amused to hear her reassure me “it looks a normal size”!

A key feature of the Colours Wave is the suction cup on the bottom. After opening the box, I did what any normal person does when confronted with a suction cup and slapped it on the wall. I then found myself having to peel the Colours Wave slowly off that wall. The suction is strong!

While the suction is mighty, I found that taking advantage of it was logistically complicated. It was a Goldilocks situation, where I never found the right spot – too high, too low, you get the idea. I found it frustrating and made harder by the fact that the Colours Wave is, well, floppy.

The Colours Wave is, despite the colour, more anatomically correct than other toys I’ve reviewed. Alas, in my opinion, the “wave” shape and softness of the silicone added to the complexity and effort.

Maybe I’m not sufficiently adept, or patient, or simply lacking flexibility and the ability to gauge height, but I would not recommend.

Jane, 45, Māori mum-of-four who’s currently in a long-distance relationship and who needs to get *creative* to keep that intimacy alive!

“My first ever attempt at the shower wall/shower base suction cup dildo ride would have been hilarious viewing… however the big O was definitely intensified.”

I’ll be honest, when my box of goodies showed up, this was definitely the one that caught my eye first.

It’s a bright blue six-inch wavy silicone dildo, firm enough for penetration but flexible enough to have a bit of boing to it.

Its phallic-like in shape but not life-like as such, with waves up the smooth blue shaft and a swollen tip. The suction cup base is also shaped to be attached to a harness apparently.

My first ever attempt at the shower wall/shower base suction cup dildo ride would have been hilarious viewing, it takes a bit of a knack to get your angle right and I’m not the most graceful of gals so it ended up being a bit of a clumsy muddle. The flexibility of the silicone means you can angle it around a bit to get the right fit with your body and a position that you’re comfortable in. With a bit of practice, you should find your sweet spot and get into some serious fun, but let’s just say, I need more practice.

For solo play with a vibe, this again was a change from my usual SPF2 routine and requires some co-ordination, however the big O was definitely intensified. My partner put it into practice later in the day and combined with his other skills it definitely bought on some intense waves.

So far, this one is in my top three and it will definitely be getting repeat performances.
