Taylor Swift has announced her engagement to Travis Kelce, taking to Instagram to reveal the big news (as well as the giant ring). But… has she also sprinkled easter eggs throughout this announcement? She is Taylor Swift. Of course she has.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨”
And with that, in just one sentence, Taylor Swift has dropped the biggest (and so very highly awaited!) entertainment news of the year.
In one heck of an instagram post (so many flowers!!!) Taylor made the announcement that she and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, are going to be tying the knot after dating since mid 2023.
But, of course, this was never going to be an ordinary announcement. Taylor is queen of the coded message, leaving little easter eggs, hints and surprises within everything she creates.
In her first five albums, she capitalised certain letters in the liner notes, which spelled out hidden messages. The lead up to her next album, The Life of a Showgirl, has been slowly teased out – even dropping hints and debuting the album’s signature orange theme throughout her Eras tour.
So, what are the Easter Eggs in this one?
She’s Got Time
In the insta post that shows a close-up of that humungous ring (what appears to be an 8-carat old mine brilliant cut diamond), there’s also another large piece of jewellery – her watch. It’s surely no coincidence that the time on the watch is 10:25. Taylor’s new album releases October (the 10th month) 2025.
But is this a nod to just her album…. or… are these nuptials taking place super fast and the same month as The Life of a Showgirl?
So High School
Yip, Taylor used High School references in the caption announcing the engagement, along with her song So High School which is about the relationship.
Here’s a reminder of those lyrics:
