The tiny Canterbury town of Prebbleton has taken the crown as New Zealand’s horniest town, with Canterbury taking out the regional award.
The unassuming, well-to-do town has nabbed victory from last year’s winner, Foxton, with the town purchasing the most sex toys per capita. With a population of just 5,690, a whopping one in five Prebbletonians purchased a sex toy from Adulttoymegastore this past year.
“Prebbleton are punching well above their weight – it’s fantastic to see these smaller towns taking pleasure into their own hands,” ATMS founder Nicola Relph says.
It seems there’s also plenty of sex on the beach happening north of Auckland, with seaside towns Whangaparāoa and Paihia completing the podium.
Raunchy regions
At a regional level, Cantabrians came first in every sense of the word, racking up the most purchases per capita across almost every category.
Main regional centres Wellington and Auckland took out the silver and bronze medal spots, respectively.
Tasman sits at the bottom of the rankings, perhaps signalling a loyal commitment to the basics. In a sea of Kiwis exploring everything from bondage kits to vibrating loungers, the region is politely declining the extras – either exceptionally self-sufficient, or proudly vanilla!
Kink capitals
As well as general horniness, this year kink trends emerged all over the country, indicating a wider uptake of non-traditional sexual desires.
