October marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month in NZ, so first of all, this is your official reminder to do a self examination – right now if you can!! If you’re not too sure exactly what you should be doing, head to the official Breast Cancer Foundation site for a full how-to – but please, do give it a go. The BCFNZ recently released info showing that 1 in 6 women under 45 NEVER check their breasts for changes – and 37% of women under 45 don’t know what to look for. It’s super duper important, so read up, and get checking – breast cancer certainly doesn’t just affect women over 45.
Now, besides doing your self-checks and reminding your friends/family to do theirs (and reminding those over 45 to get their mammogram done!), there are other ways we can support one another during October – including going shopping!
