SPRING Into a New Capsule Wardrobe with The Warehouse – Our Top 13 Pieces You Need ASAP

TWH Post Page Top

Ah, spring – it’s a fabulous time to do the old house clear out and go all Marie Kondo on your wardrobe. But, if you’ve Kondo-ed a bit too hard and find yourself in need of some hardworking capsule wardrobe pieces to complement your collection (or hell, you just want to go shopping and not break the bank) then haere mai – we’ve done all the hard work for you with our spring capsule collection from our mates at The Warehouse.

We’ve harped on about the benefits of a capsule wardrobe before (with a name like that, how can we NOT love it?!) and we really think we’ve found some absolute cracking pieces you’ll be able to slot into your existing wardrobe, or even make brand new outfits from.

Here’s some of the highlights and a few looks you can pop together!

THE WORKHORSE LINEN SHIRT I maintain that every woman should have a white linen shirt in their wardrobe because it just GOES with so much. It’s a core foundation piece for any outfit, as well as a beach-throwover, a tog cover-upper, an extra wind layer and anything else you can think of (scarf?! Headpiece!?). I can hand on heart sat that this linen blend option from The Warehouse is DIVINE and looks and feels far more expensive than its $35 price tag. Run.

THE CUTE BIKINI As a lady with wobbly bits bikinis scare, well, the bejesus out of me, but this is the summer I decide to not give a damn about that, so I’m heading into my zero-effs era with this gorg black and white set. Classic colours, classic shape – what’s not to like!

THE BOARDIE (ARE THESE BACK!?) Fellow millennials rejoice, the boardie is back – but in a somewhat nicer form than our old hot pink and zebra print options. These butter yellow ones are perfect for wearing in the surf as well as on the beach (and, most importantly, for the walk from the beach to the car because thigh chafe is REAL for most of us).

PUT IT ALL TOGETHER: LET’S GO TO THE BEACH, BEACH Can there be a more perfect option for your first swim of the season!? Pair with a floppy wide brim hat and some sandals for an effortlessly chic getup that can go from the surf to the streets.

THE BODYSUIT THAT’LL HAVE YOU SMOOTHED AND CONFIDENT BUT STILL COMFY The dudes at The Warehouse are so excited for their contour range and hell, they should be. A good foundation layer can make all the difference to an outfit (or if you vibe a fitted fit then this range is for you!). These babies don’t vacuum you in like shapewear, rather, the fit and move with your body and, trust us, they feel amazing. A classic back bodysuit like this one will give you a gorgeous line underneath other, more bulky items, and is super-comfy to wear (and yes, it has snaps on the gusset!)

THE ON-TREND WHITE JEANS THAT DON’T MAKE YOUR THIGHS LOOK LIKE LOAVES OF BREAD I have been blessed with thighs and while I love them on then netball court, when it comes to light-coloured jeans it’s always a battle. These ones have been designed with the Kiwi woman in mind and don’t cling to the thigh at all, making them super flattering and super comfy. These will be the new base of my wardrobe!

THE STRIPED CARDI BECAUSE COME ON, IT’S STILL A KIWI SPRING Always be prepared for New Zealand weather – layering is not only chic, but essential in this lovely land of ours. I’m obsessed with the colour and cut of this cardi!

PUT IT ALL TOGETHER: A CHIC WEEKEND LOOK THAT SCREAMS ELEGANT-BUT-DIDN’T-TRY-TOO-HAARD Look like that chick who has her life together (no one does – but you can LOOK like you have!).

THE BODYCON SET THAT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE YOU *UNDERSTAND FASHION* Look I’ll tell you right now that this is a set that scares me on its own, but after pulling on the boob tube (god we really are back to the late 90s, aren’t we) and matching skirt, I was converted. I’d probably wear with a blazer over the top but if you’re vibing confidence and on-trend fits, GO for it with this set from the contour range! It’s also great as separates – I’ve paired the light blue skirt with a white cotton t-shirt for another fab outfit.

PUT IT ALL TOGETHER: WELL IT’S FASHION, INNIT I mean, see above!

THE WORKHORSE LINEN SHIRT BUT IN BROWN That’s right, I was so obsessed with this linen shirt I bought two! Brown is one of my favourite shades right now because it’s elegant and easy to wear. It  looks fab with the skirt below, but it’s also gorgeous with a denim short.

THE THROW-ON LINEN SKIRT I always seem to default to pants when I’m looking at linen options, but as soon as I saw this skirt I instantly saw how handy this would be in my daily life – with shirts, tees and singlets, as well as over togs. Yes, I’m that optimistic for swimming season soon!

PUT IT ALL TOGETHER: EASY BREEZY BEAUTIFUL ‘I’VE JUST GOT BACK FROM THE BACH’ It’s rich coastal grandmother vibes, and it’s giving absolute relaxation, zero stress and zero cares. Who doesn’t want that in their life!?

THE 90S-INSPIRED SEE-THROUGH BLOUSE This piece is super-fashion forward for The Warehouse and we love to see it! Pair with a singlet or bodysuit underneath and rock with a straight-leg jean.

THE 90S-INSPIRED SLIP OF A SLIP DRESS Whether you’re going for a 90s vibe or just clean-cut elegance, this contour dress will be the new hero of your wardrobe as the foundation piece you’ll call back to again and again. A black blazer and heels? Cute date night outfit! Chunky sweater? A trans seasonal look that will never date. By itself with a sandal? The perfect BBQ fit.

PUT IT TOGETHER: YOU’RE SEXY, YOU’RE CUTE, YOU’RE POPULAR TO BOOT (BUT ALSO KIND OF EDGY) I messaged a picture of this outfit to my friend whose style is veeeery much 90s based and she confirmed to me that she would be thrilled to wear it.
