BUY:

Ecoya Plug In Diffuser

Who doesn’t want their house to smell like their favourite fragrance for 700 HOURS? No one, that’s who. Ecoya have achieved with this nifty little gismo! In fact, it’s so popular it sold out almost instantly when it was released earlier this year but never fear – you can pre-order if now and it’ll ship in mid-June. Trust us on this one, you don’t want to miss out. Fragrances come in French Pear, Sweet Pea and Jasmine, Lotus Flower and Guava and Lychee.

Hotel At Home Bamboo Linen Duvet Cover Set

Afforable… linen!? Finally, ’tis here – Hotel At Home is a luxury range of manchester (everything including sheets, duvet sets, pillows, mattress toppers) towels and throws designed to bring the opulence of a five-star hotel experience to the people at a more affordable price – and since it’s stocked at Briscoes, you know what that means…. wait for a sale, of course!
From $299.99 (but wait for the weekend when there’s bound to be a sale obvs)

Emma Lewisham Supernatural Vitale Elixir

We love our girl Emma and damn, she’s gone all out on this one – in fact, it was four whole years in the making. The Supernatural Vitale Elixir is a facial muscle relaxant that has been scientifically proven to reduce muscle contractions responsible for wrinkles by 91% after 24 hours.Independent 3D in vitro testing performed by a specialist French laboratory measured Supernatural Vitale Elixir’s impact on muscle contraction frequency using human skin fibroblasts compared against α-bungarotoxin when the product is applied to cells twice daily. This pioneering testing found that the Elixir reduces muscle contractions by up to 62% after 4 hours, 91% after 24 hours and 96% after 48 hours. Science-y!

Karen Walker Monogram Bomber Jacket

I (Kelly) was very kindly gifted a similar jacket from Karen Walker at the start of chilly season (and yes, I squealed the house down when I opened the post, thanks for asking) and can honestly say there hasn’t been a day that’s gone by that I haven’t worn it because it is most definitely the perfect trans-seasonal jacket (or actually, a winter jacket when you live in Auckland because let’s be frank, it’s not that cold!). This bomber version is the same gorgeous green with a slightly different cut, but all of the style.
$275

TOM Organic Reusable Pads and Liners

Capsule are big fans of period pants (we’ve written about them almost ad nauseam) and we’re bloody thrilled (sorry) to see some other reusable items on the market, like TOM’s new liners and pads (their period undies are also very good). They’re made with organic cotton and can be washed and worn an average of 40 times.
Pads $17.99, liners $14.99

The Only Good Hand and Body Wash Range

They say first impressions matter, so Only Good has taken that to heart with the refresh of their bottle design. It’s sleeker, more modern, and will elevate any kitchen counter or shower station. But it’s not just about looks – as always, Only Good remains committed to its values of sustainability and clean living. Made right here in New Zealand, their carefully crafted formulations feature certified natural ingredients that are not only good for your skin, but also good for the planet with all bottles made with sustainable sugar cane and designed to be reusable. And this stuff smells…. well, outstanding. Try the coconut milk body wash, and the sage and lime zest hand wash.
From $8.99

Lorna Jane Freshman Dark Green Set

I (Kelly) am a new convert to Lorna Jane after trying out a summery set earlier this year and I absolutely adore it – the quality is great, the colours chic and the fit actually right for a woman with jiggle. I might have a problem in the sense that I keep buying things in green and pretty much no other colour but come on, LOOOOK at this incredible set. It’s so cute it might even give me confidence to go to a group yoga class (normal for most people, terrifying for me!)

Sports bra $110, Leggings $150

La Roche Posay MelaB3 Serum

Hyperpigmentation issues? Well keep your eyes out for a special little review coming of a treatment I (Kelly) have had on my face (bravely, I might add, I looked like I had scurvy or something for two weeks) but in the meantime, check out this new release from La Roche Posay. I’m quite new to the brand apart from its GLORIOUS sunblock, but two of my beauty editor friends swear by this MelaB3. Harnessing 18 years’ worth of L’Oréal Research & Innovation, Melasyl is a unique multi–patented new molecule: a revolution in the fight against hyperpigmentation that works differently to traditional actives by actually intercepting excess melanin before it marks the skin. It’s a decent price point, too.
$63.19

Acme Bobby Mug in Kawakawa

Acme is such an iconic brand – you’ll know their gorgeous cups from pretty much every cafe – and we love the evolution to the Bobby mug which has quickly made its way to the front of our favourite mug queue (we’re not the only ones who have mug rankings, right!?).
$18.60

Revlon Illuminance Serum Tint

Believing that they can offer both beauty newbies and aficionados more when it comes to colour cosmetics infused with skincare, Revlon launched a new franchise that focuses solely on skin-caring makeup blends to suit consumers globally. Revlon has combined their science of skincare and love for light coverage to develop the Revlon Illuminance Serum Tint for a softer look. The smooth tint provides light coverage to instantly enhance your complexion, create a natural glow, and is infused with skin-loving ingredients to even skin tone over time, leaving your complexion with a natural, soft satin finish. This new daily favourite is available in ten adjustable shades.

New World Beer and Cider Award Winners

We love a good beer and wine recommendation – New World have made the ole craft beer game a tad easier to select from with their top 30 beer and cider picks – a great and broad selection, so there’s something for everyone! Check out the top 30 and use it as a chance to try something a little different, perhaps?
See your local New World for selection

Dermalogica Phyto Nature Lifting Eye Cream

The Phyto Nature oxygen cream absolutely slaps and there’s no doubt the eye cream version of this cult Dermalogica line will do the same thing – in fact, 94% of people who tried it in a clinical test saw a visible reduction in wrinkles. It can be used on the upper eyelid, unlike a lot of eye products, and will lift and firm beauuuuutifully. Plus it smells heavenly!
$237

July ‘Juliette’ Bag

I [Alice] have been on the hunt for the perfect cross-body bag, ever since my beloved camel coloured one started literally coming apart at the seams. Luckily for me, July (yes, the folks who make the legendary luggage) have moved into making lines of more everyday bags and their new Juliette range features THE perfect crossbody bag in Whiskey. Like the July luggage range, this bag is super smart and practical (while looking stylish) – it has a surprisingly large amount of space inside (I can fit my son’s drink bottle, a nappy, pocket pack of wipes, snacks, wallet, phone, keys and lipbalm in here), with lots of clever internal and external pockets to help you find things easily in a hurry.
$195

Marlo Rain Boots

It has taken me [Alice] waaaaay too long to finally embrace a rain boot (I have two boys!), but getting a pair has already changed my life. I end up jumping in a lot of puddles (or running after my toddler into them), we go on lots of bush walks, head to the snow in the thick of winter and I am one of those people who seems to permanently have cold feet in winter. Well, not any more!

Marlo boots are a modern take on a classic kiwi gumboot that can take you from sideline sports games and a wet work commute to the café and everywhere in between. And, what i love most about them is they are made from natural rubber that is tapped from living trees. Because of the processes they use, Marlo has attained Forest Stewardship Council® certification (FSC®) for the natural rubber used in its full collection of waterproof boots, and is also the first NZ company to sign the FSC-led Fashion Forever Green Pact.  FSC is the world’s most trusted marker of sustainable forestry and represents Marlo’s commitment to the fight against deforestation and supporting the preservation of vital ecosystems and the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities dependent on forests.

Stylish and good for the planet! Two thumbs up

The Wintergarden at QT Auckland (and the return of the legendary Mumm Champagne Parlour)

Ooh, it’s all going on at our favourite haunt, QT Hotels, at the minute! For nine magical weeks, Perrier-Jouët Champagne will reign supreme at Rooftop at QT Auckland. From Perrier-Jouët Brut NV to the 2013 vintage Belle Époque Rosé (read: fancy FANCY), Rooftop at QT are giving guests the chance to taste these divine drops by the glass or with a guided tasting flight of three or five premium pours, from $49 per person. I’ve done this tasting and can confirm, this is simply magical (and I recommend adding on the canapé match if you’re a seafood fan!) But if you happen to be in Queenstown this winter (um, lucky) then you’ll be thrilled to know that the Mumm Champagne Parlour is coming back! I stayed in this insane suite last year and trust me, if you’re with your partner or gal pal and you’re celebrating something special, it’s simply a must-do (and yes, you get Champagne!)

A music event like no other, Synthony is set to capture hearts and minds again with a world-first new show, Synthony Pride, on Saturday the 3rd of August at Auckland’s Spark Arena, celebrating LGBTQIA+ communities, artists, performers & anthems. Pride aims to honour the queer impact on dance music and nightlife, paying homage to the development of house music and pop anthems. Synthony – where classic house and dance tunes are re-imagined by orchestras, will now deliver 30+ tracks covering music by Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Martin Solveig, Madonna, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Calvin Harris, and more, plus some classic Synthony bangers (we assume they mean Sandstorm because you can’t have a Synthony performance without it, trust us!)
Saturday 3 August, Auckland, Spark Arena

The Barrel Room at Ayrburn

We’ve spoken about how much we LOVE Arrowtown’s new entertainment complex before – and now there’s even more to love with the opening of The Barrel Room – an underground wine cellar, piano bar & private dining room. Located underground within the Ayrburn precinct, guests are invited to follow the candlelight, past the grand piano to a wine cellar lined with 56 barrels, setting the scene for the opulent ambience that follows. With the capacity to host 50 guests for an intimate candle-lit soiree through to larger lively late-night gatherings and everything in between – or when you just feel like being a bit fancy or hedonistic.
Open now at Ayrburn, Arrowtown, Central Otago

Mexico Britomart Opens Again

New Zealand’s favourite Mexican food destination has a fancy new flagship! The OG Mexico has undergone QUITE the glow up after being closed for a 13-month makeover. The new space still boasts everything we’ve come to love about Mexico, which celebrates the colourful, fresh, and lighter side of Mexican cuisine. Inspired by the streets of Mexico; the menu is designed to share and changes seasonally, but always includes a range of flavour-packed tacos, their signature fried chicken with jalapeño and chipotle mayo, churros with velvety dulce de leche, and their famous Frida’s Margaritas (which are now available on tap).
Mexico Britomart, open now

Rascals Funfest: One-day family festival of fun

Move over Rhythm and Vines, there’s a new kid on the block! To celebrate Rascal + Friends’ rebrand to ‘Rascals’ they’re hosting their very first family festival in Auckland on 15 June. The one-day festival has an epic line up of activities for parents and kids (aged 0-5 years old), including a ball pit, kids DJ, photo-booth and soft play area. We’ll also have tasty treats for the kids, coffee and pastries for parents and plenty of prizes to score!

There are six one-hour sessions throughout the day, from 9.00am until 4.15pm. Tickets are $10 each, and all proceeds will be donated to Gingernut’s Angels – a charity supporting New Zealanders whose fertility journey is less than straight forward. Each ticket covers 1 x adult and up to 2 x children (aged 0-5). For additional adults or children, please book a second ticket.
