Andrew Tate reposted a tbh skincare TikTok on his X account in July 2024. The female founded Aussie company became a global target of abuse and vitriol from the ‘wrong side of the internet’ — the manosphere. In a video interview, Capsule’s Vivien Beduya talks to co-founder Rachael Wilde about how she advocated for women in the workforce. Watch it now on YouTube.
If you jump on the Instagram and TikTok account of Aussie company tbh skincare, you can quickly see how passionate they are about social media marketing.
The company’s co-founder, Rachael Wilde, (aka the gen z boss) is 28 years old and says their customers are on social media and want to meet them where they’re at. So it’s really common for them to jump on a silly trend and film a video in the office.
But in July last year, one of their fun and light-hearted TikToks was taken completely out of context and was used to attack women in the workforce. They were flooded with comments like “bring back gender pay gap”, “women should go back to the kitchen” and “fire every single one of them.” The controversy garnered so much media attention, particularly in the United States, and the team pushed back against the misogyny.
In this video interview with Rachael Wilde, she opens up about what exactly happened behind the scenes of the Andrew Tate saga, how she backed and led her team throughout it all, and how she advocated for working women.
