Hot Cross Buns are delicious – but pairing them with chocolate, custard AND Nutella? Get. In. My. Belly. Enjoy making this super-indulgent Triple Chocolate Hot Cross Bun Pudding – the hardest thing will be having to share it!

Triple Chocolate Hot Cross Bun Pudding
Serves 6

Ingredients:

Butter (for greasing)
6 chocolate Hot Cross Buns – Or 8 mini size buns
50 grams butter
6 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup cream
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
1/3 cup sugar
1⁄2 cup Nutella
2 tablespoons milk chocolate chips

To serve:

2 tablespoons white chocolate chips
Icing sugar
Vanilla ice cream

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
2. Grease your dutch oven or oven-proof dish (we use Biroix).
3. Take a bun and make two cuts in the top of the bun, (where the cross is) as if you were cutting it in three, but leave the bun intact by not cutting through to the bottom. Take a butter knife and spread Nutella in the slices. Repeat for all the buns. Place into the baking dish, overlapping the buns a little.
4. In a medium-sized bowl, add the eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and sugar and whisk.
5. Pour over the buns and leave to soak for 15-30 mins, spooning the custard over the buns.
6. Toss over the milk chocolate chips and nestle some into the custard.
7. Cook for 40 – 50 minutes until custard is set. If the buns are getting too brown on top, place a lid or some foil over the Biroix.
8. Serve the hot cross bun pudding with cream or ice cream and dust with icing sugar
