I Stayed in a Champagne Parlour – and You Can Too (Complete with Dial for Champagne Button!!)

Kelly Bertrand lives a dream in Queenstown with QT and Mumm’s Champagne Parlour

As far as dreams coming true goes, staying in a fancy-schmancy hotel room with a button that says ‘dial for Champagne’ is pretty high on the list (maybe it’ll start raining chicken nuggets next!?)

Welcome to my little slice of heaven – the QT Queenstown’s beautiful Champagne Parlour, where I’m planning to be ensconced for the next 24 hours in my own personal heaven – surrounded by GH Mumm Champagne (my absolute favourite), room service and, of course, that always-on Queenstown lake view.

I knew this overnight stay when I was greeted by *this* at the airport (to think I was nervous about figuring out who was picking me up):

That, my friends, is Danillo, QT’s Director of Champagne (OMG it’s also my dream job) whose mission is to ply you (responsibly) with Mumm during your stay, as well as that famed QT whimsy and pizzaz to your Champagne Parlour experience (they even remembered how much I like sweet chilli sauce and left me a bottle – the details are impeccable).

But it’s when you enter the room – especially decked out in Mumm rosé pink – that you start to realise that this isn’t going to be a normal stay.

QT, in partnership with Mumm, have absolutely gone to TOWN on this room, removing almost all furniture and replacing it with the real rosé *aesthetic* – we’re talking a new fluffy pink rug, bedding, bespoke art by Lyttelton-based artist Alexandra Weston above the bed, bathrobes and, my personal favourite touch, a huge neon Champagne bottle sign that I was very tempted to dismantle, fold into my suitcase and claim ignorance on. You also get complementary mimosas with your included room service breakfast which, i’m sorry, truly is the best way to start the day.

Oh, and the ENTIRE MINIBAR IS JUST BOTTLES OF GRAND CORDON ROSÉ.

PM me and AM me – two very happy mes.

But when you need to leave the confines of your beautiful blush abode, QT has you covered with a little adventure (that ends in Champagne, of course). For the promo period, guests can hunt out Danillo and his Champagne cart between 4-5pm and enjoy a tipple somewhere in the hotel – and he can pop up in any nook and cranny (but hot tip: check reception first!)

It’s a special promotion that’s perfect if you’re planning a *special* trip to Queenstown – surely SOMEONE has to get engaged in the room before it finishes, right!?

But it’s also awesome if you’re keen to add a night or two of luxury to your Queenstown trip, and not leave the comfort of your room while still getting to enjoy that view.

I complemented my trip with a few chic activities that really heightened the luxe vibe – a wine tasting and little mini-makeover at the new DFS Galleria (it’s SUCH a cool space, even if you’re not wanting to purchase anything, head in and check it out) and a perfume-making class at Miller Road Fragrances. The team there are SO knowledgeable about scent, so even if you’ve got no idea what you like, they’ll guide you into making your very own, personal 30ml perfume and honestly, I was shocked at how good mine turned out to be.

But put it this way – anyone who knows me will know that my idea of heaven is sitting outside, rugged up against the refreshing Queenstown cold, a glass of Champagne in one hand and a burger on the other, and that’s exactly what I did.

Live your best life – check out the Champagne Parlour today.

The Champagne Parlour is $599 per night and is able to be booked until 30th April (although QT please extend it – it’s too good to lose!) Book here
