Here at Capsule, we look like to lean into the festive cliches that come with Christmas movies and so we present our Christmas holiday movie bingo
As you might suspect from a website that has several articles dedicated to one Christmas movie – Love, Actually – we really like to lean into all of the festive traditions, particularly when those traditions combine two of our favourite things: watching television and drinking wine festive cheer!
Every year, Christmas arrives earlier and so in an attempt to try and feel festive, we panic and turn to our festive favourites to try and remember what it’s like to feel Christmassy. But in recent years, there has been a new arrival on the Christmas scene: bad-good holiday movies.
Netflix et al have picked up on the fact that all anybody really wants is to fall lightly asleep on the couch/scroll their phone while something faintly festive plays in the background, so now there are a whole new selection of bad-good holiday movies to watch, full of non-offensive cliches and ‘hey, it’s Christmas’ signals.
So we present our Christmas Holiday Movie Bingo, that you can download and play along at home. Depending on the age group of your audience, you can decide what happens when you reach ‘Bingo’.
In the meantime, you can enjoy deciding what constitutes as a ‘strange and ultimately warm elder’ (Home Alone street sweeper, Home Alone 2 bird lady, Rowan Atkinson in Love, Actually) and how rife ‘family trauma’ actually is in most Christmas movies (so many orphans?)
