48 Hours in Sydney: How to Have the Best Weekend Across the Ditch in Style

So many Kiwi fly across the Tasman to Sydney every year that by now, it’s practically domestic travel (can we please ditch the passports already?!) To help you out the next time you head to Sydney for whatever reason (perhaps a certain someone’s Eras tour?!) we’ve collated a little cheat sheet of all the things you can experience to make up a perfect weekend.

Capsule x Booking.com

Eat Here:
Clam Bar

I don’t really know how else to describe The Clam Bar other than wonderfully, totally Sydney. Even though the menu is totally New York steakhouse inspired, the raw seafood bar, simple-yet-elevated pasta (including a spaghetti with clams ofc) and classic cocktails means you’ll be living that sweet sweet Sydney lifestyle. It’s on the fancy side, sure, but still manages to offer that laid-back Aussie vibe, while still feeling just a little bit special.

Drink Here:
Maybe Sammy

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Maybe Sammy and if I lived in Sydney and I had the patience to line up every time (yes, it’s THAT popular) then I’d be there every damn weekend. Judged as one of the world’s top 50 bars, this is a place that actually lives up to the hype (they came in at 29th). This is a place where the key is fun, rather than fuss. Sure, you’ll be downing a bloody good cocktail that both impresses you and confuses you (there’s a lot of, ‘but how?!’) but there’s also disco lights, bartender-led singalongs and more theatre than Broadway. Trust me. It’s worth the wait.

Stay Here:
Hotel Morris Sydney

Brand new and bursting with a sophisticated personality, Hotel Morris is one of *those* hotels – you know, the ones you don’t really want to leave because there’s almost too much to take in. Just refurbished by Accor, the historic hotel – it first opened in 1929 – is right on Pitt St in the centre of Sydney and boasts its own wine bar (bliss!) and an Italian-style restaurant offering. Oh, and STUNNING rooms. There’s nothing quite like a boutique hotel – and there’s plenty of others on booking.com to check out in Sydney, too.

Relax Here:
Crown Spa

Ok we know right on the off that this is a very bougie option but hell, this one is worth saving up for. The spa at the Crown Hotel is one of those places that celebrities trust their faces with (BIG accolade) and you can indulge in everything from simple soaks in spa pools and time in the steam room through to indulgent packages and even caviar facials (I have no idea what this achieves to be honest but hell, it’s fancy and you DESERVE IT. You can also go on ‘journeys’ that include meditation and even sleep therapy. Ooh la la.

Go Here:
TINA: The Tina Turner Musical
Sunrise Kayak and Coffee Tour

There’s so much to do in Sydney that including just two things seems but if we were jumping across the ditch for 48 hours, this is what would be on our to-do list!
She was the absolute icon of icons, the queen of the shimmy and one of the most beloved artists of the last 60 years until her death earlier this year, so it’s only right to pay tribute to the legend that is Tina Turner with TINA: The Tina Turner Musical. You’ll experience the incredible and inspiring life story of Tina, the absolute QUEEN of rock and roll in a musical that has critics absolutely fizzing and leaves everyone who sees it humming Simply the Best for days (one would imagine!).

Or, if you’re wanting to get a little more exercise into your jam-packed weekend, chill things out with a sunrise kayak and coffee tour where you get to explore Sydney’s famous harbour before everyone else has woken up (and there’s epic photo spots too!)
